The Wind Raider has been optioned for a theatrical
motion picture by Atmosphere Entertainment MM, the production company headed by
noted producer Mark Canton. Atmosphere was involved in the production of such
blockbuster movies as 300, The Spiderwick
Chronicles, and Immortals.
The project is set in a post-apocalyptic world
and centers on a teenage boy who is killed… but then given a second life by a
mysterious man with a haunted past. Despite their bond, the two will end up
traveling different paths in their stand against a powerful force threatening to
enslave the survivors seeking to rebuild a new world.
The Wind Raider drew critical acclaim when the
project was first published as a graphic comic by Ape Entertainment. The first novel in the SF/YR book series will be published in the fall of 2013.
Spearheading the project at Atmosphere Entertainment is David
Hopwood, the Senior Vice President of Production and Development at the company.
Hopwood recently produced the theatrical thriller, Rites of
Passage, starring Wes Bentley and Christian Slater.
Atmosphere Entertainment was formed by Mark Canton, who
continues to be one of Hollywood’s top motion picture and television producers.
He is a producer on the upcoming movie, 300: Rise of an Empire (the
companion film to 300) and a producer on one of my personal film
favorites -- A Perfect Getaway, starring Timothy
Olyphant.
I originally worked with writer Dean Loftis on The Wind
Raider project over a decade ago. After our collaboration ended, I spent years creatively
expanding on this project, leading to the graphic novel, and to the upcoming
series of novels.
Since day one, the entire development of The Wind Raider project has been supported by my film production company partner, John Thompson.

The film option by Atmosphere Entertainment... plus the upcoming
publication of the first Wind Raider novel has me believing the entire
project is sailing across the desert in the right
direction!
